iNARTE Student Chapters
PROCESS FOR FORMATION OF STUDENT CHAPTERS
iNARTE encourages formation of Student Chapters at regional educational
institutions, schools and universities. Student chapters may be authorized by the Executive Director
upon receipt of sufficient information to assure chapter formation success.
The purpose of this policy statement is to outline the process and
requirements for formation of student chapters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The following are minimum requirements for an organization to be recognized
as an iNARTE Student Chapter:
a. There can only be one student chapter at any given institution.
b. The chapter must hold at least two meetings each year to maintain standing as a functional entity.
c. A complement of officers and an executive committee must be appointed and in place within one year of the chapter's formation. These appointed positions must be superseded by elected officers within 12 months of their appointment.
d. The Chapter Treasure must file a report with iNARTE headquarters by January 15th of each year to protect our non-profit standing with the United States Internal Revenue Service.
e. The Chapter Chair must be prepared to file an activity report twice yearly 30 days prior to the iNARTE Board of Directors meeting.
PROCESS FOR CHAPTER FOUNDATION
In order to facilitate formation of a Student Chapter, a representative of
the forming institution must request iNARTE sponsorship by letter. The
request letter must contain as a minimum, the following:
a. Identification by name, title, address and telephone number of the local institution staff member who will act as advisor to the newly forming chapter.
b. Identification of the transition committee (a minimum of five members) who will act as the governing body during formation of the chapter, prior to appointment of an initial group of officers.
c. An indication of the approximate size of student body, the courses and or degrees offered relating to iNARTE certification programs.
d. The target date for formation of the chapter (e.g., beginning fall semester 2009, January 2010, etc.).
e. Anticipated dues structure (generally US$30 each year).
f. Telephone numbers, email and other addresses for contacting the Chapter (this can be the advisor, the Interim Chair, or the Executive Committee).
START-UP SUPPORT
After review and discussion, iNARTE will provide the following:
a. A charter recognizing the Chapter as part of the iNARTE organization.
b. A draft set of by-laws with mandatory requirements indicated.
c. A check for $100.00 to provide initial funds for mailing, advertising and other miscellaneous expenses.
d. Students must apply for Chapter membership using form http://www.narte.org/d/chptapp.pdf.
e. Membership certificates to all identified members.
f. An iNARTE staff point of contact for liaison, coaching and help.
