Job Description:
This position provides a high level of wireless systems technical expertise and assists, trains and monitors work performed by junior technical staff within the Wireless Communications Section.

Requirements:
To qualify you must have three (3) years of technical and engineering experience as a telecommunications technician including testing and design; AND a Bachelor's degree with major coursework (30 quarter or 20 semester hours) in electrical engineering or applied physics, or three (3) more years of qualifying experience; AND possession of FCC General Radio Telephone License or equivalent industrial certification.

We encourage candidates who meet the requirements of the Communications Systems Analyst 2 to apply, as we may need to "underfill" the position if we cannot fill at the CSA 3 level.

To qualify for the CSA 2 level, you must have three years of full-time experience in the installation, operation, and repair of telecommunication equipment; AND possession of Federal Communications Commission General Radio Telephone License or equivalent industrial certification. Graduation as an electronic technician from a recognized school of electronic technology may be substituted for two of the three years of qualifying experience.

You must list your license(s) under the licenses and certifications section of your application.
Preference may be given to certification at a Master Technician level.

Job Description:
- Assist in the design and site attenuation verification of an OATS
- Preparing test plans and processes
- Perform tests according to set schedules
- Assist clients in resolving issues
- Assist in the ISO 17025 accreditation process
- Take ownership of the day-to-day running of the lab

- Experience with ISO 17025 processes
- Strong familiarity with test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power meters, signal generators, etc.
- Experience in troubleshooting failing devices
- INARTE certification a plus

Job Description:
Communication Technician I Summary: Under the direction from the Fleet Manager or the Assistant Fleet Manager, this position applies knowledge of electronic theory and practice to assist in the installation, removal, and maintenance of fixed-station and complex mobile communication equipment. This communications work is typically performed either at a central shop or at remote communication sites located throughout Pierce County. The Communication Technician will work with increasing independence commensurate with demonstrated proficiency.

Communication Technician II Summary: Under the direction from the Fleet Manager or the Assistant Fleet Manager, performs highly technical and engineering-related tasks that include analyzing, developing, and implementing solutions for the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and calibration of a wide variety of communications equipment that constitutes the Pierce Transit Communications Network. This equipment includes point-to-point microwave systems; data transmission systems; vehicle and portable radio systems, CAD/AVL, Smart Card, GIS, Camera/Security Systems and fixed communication station equipment. Assignments include emergency responses to independently analyze, repair, or devise a temporary solution for restoring communication services.

Minimum Qualifications – Communication Technician I:
Required: General FCC radio/telephone operator’s license or equivalent; completion of a two (2) year degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Computer Engineering and two (2) years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position. Desired: NARTE Junior Technician Certification; Motorola ASTRO 25.7 certification and experience; Harris Microwave Video Networking and P25 Microwave System certification and experience; Cisco Routing and Switching certification and experience.
