Facility Certification Program to ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999
Certification Scope: Site Certification Only - each facility must get its own
certification.
Certification Period: Annual re-certification required.
Certifying Entities: ESD Association trained and approved ISO 9000 Registrars.
Target Market: Any company that handles unprotected ESD sensitive products.
Description: The ESD Certification Program has been designed to certify facilities to
the ANSI/ESD S20.20 Standard. It was developed based on frequent requests from industries that
wanted to demonstrate compliance to an industry standard via an audit conducted by a neutral 3rd party.
Specially trained, ISO 9000 Registrars were chosen to conduct the certification audits due to their experience with auditing and their built-in neutrality. In addition,
it was felt that the certification program could become an add-on to a company's ISO 9000
certification, thereby reducing costs (if the 20.20 audit was conducted at the same time).
Benefits: In the long term, as the program becomes accepted, we would expect that 2nd
party audits will decrease.
